Preparing For A Trip The Right Way - All You Need to Know

As you know, it’s important for me to visit at least one new country every year. With this in mind, I thought I'd do a post on getting ready for a trip. The preparation is a big part of the event because it puts your mind at ease and gets you excited for your upcoming adventure!

Packing
The first I want to talk about is packing. Getting your luggage right can make or break a trip. I'm a huge fan of packing light and it's important to plan what you're packing and make sure you have the essentials. You don't want to end up wasting time and money shopping when it could be better used exploring!Check the weather reports before you go so you know what temperature and humidity to expect. Make sure you have enough of any medication you take for the duration of your trip. Don't forget your electronic devices like your phone, iPad and especially your chargers. It's also important to take a converter plug so you can use the electrical outlets in your chosen country.

Documents
Of course, you have to have the correct documents before you can travel. For those of us with a European Passport, this is enough to travel anywhere in the EU. Although this may be headed for a change after the Brexit decision. But for now, it's business as usual. We are also entitled to free or discounted emergency healthcare within the EU. But you have to have an ehic card to access this; you can get an ehic application form online. It's still important to take out travel insurance, though.

If you are going to far off places, then you will need insurance in case of a medical emergency. You will also need to make sure you have the correct documents for entering the country. Remember that your visa will be specific if it does not allow work in that country, you cannot work there, and they will deport you if they find you doing so.

Travel
In most cases, you will need to book your trip in advance. Although sometimes you can get some great last minutes deals by turning up at the airport. If you are travelling from the UK to Europe you can choose to fly, go by ferry or by Eurostar. Budget airlines provide an excellent opportunity to travel all over the world for a small price. Remember to factor in the trip and from the airport, though. A ferry is a great choice if you have a lot of driving to do when you reach the continent as it means you can take your own car. This is really good if you want to do the French antique markets or a booze cruise! When travelling by Eurostar, you can either take your car or get a train from your local station to London and then pick it up from there. This is superb for those people that don't have a car, as it provides an easy way to get to Europe.
