5 Must See Things in London

Hello Wonderful People!

I've finally done it. After 10 months of living in London, I've actually done a tour of the city. I've been meaning to do this for ages as I love a good tour and it's always a great way to get out and see a city. So, last Sunday I finally did what I've been promising myself for months and hopped on an open top bus for a tour of the city. There are so many ways to see London; by boat, train, foot, tube, car, bus and even cable car, so there really is no excuse not to go exploring. However, if you're pushed for time and want to squeeze in all the sights, or if you don't fancy traipsing around, then an open top bus tour really is the way to go. You get to see all the best bits of London, have the freedom to hop on/off, plus there's a running commentary giving fun facts and information on all the famous sights! What more could you want?

The tour I opted for was The Original Tour, check them out here. They were an awesome option as they have several routes, walking tours, plus a river cruise all included in the ticket price! The ticket is also valid for 24 hours, so if you're clever about it, you can spread your sightseeing across two days. There are 3 main routes that cover different areas of central London, as well as all the top attractions. If you're stuck for choice on which route to pick, don't worry! You can mix and match between routes, depending one what you fancy seeing and doing.

Now, London is a pretty big place. If you're visiting it for the first time then it can be tricky to figure out what to see and how to get there. If you have the luxury of time, then you can explore the city at your leisure. However, most tourists visiting London are only here for a few days and want to pack in as much as they can. I've had a long, hard think and after much deliberation have come up with 5 must see things for anyone visiting the city..

Parliament Square
Some of the most famous London landmarks are visible from this iconic corner of London, making Parliament Square a must see sight. Big Ben, The Houses of Parliament and Westminster Abbey are all accessible from the square. Plus you can spy the London Eye across the river and Trafalgar Square at the other end of Whitehall.

Covent Garden
This is one of my favourite areas in London, and probably where I spend most of my time, as this is where my office is! There are so many great bars, restaurants, cafes, theatres and shops to see in Covent Garden, making it an essential area to check out! The piazza is the focal point of this lively area and is a beautiful spot to visit, with an impressive market building in the middle, housing all sorts of shops, stalls and eateries.

Southbank
There is always something going on at the Southbank and no trip to London is complete without a visit here. Not only can you take a ride on the London Eye or visit the London Dungeons, the Southbank always plays host to a number of events throughout the year. In the winter you'll find Christmas markets and in the summer there'll be pop-up bars and food stalls; there is always something going on. Plus you get a cracking view of Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament across the river.

Museums
London has a lot of museums. And when I say a lot, I mean hundreds. The best part? The majority of them are free! The Natural History Museum and The Science Museum are two of my favourites, and are absolutely worth a visit, especially if you have children! If you happen to be visiting London at the end of a month, then both of these museums open their doors after hours, and you can wander round with a glass of wine. Perfecto!

London Bridge
I love this area of London and feel that it is quite underrated when it comes to tourism and must see places in the city. There's so much to see and do in London Bridge and you're only a stones throw from some of London's more iconic landmarks. Take a trip up the Shard, see Tower Bridge, try some tasty treats in Borough Market, check out HMS Belfast, or wander to the other side of the river for a tour of the Tower of London.
