Exploring Brixton

Image
I've been living in London for almost 2 years and for the past 10 months Brixton has been my home. When I tell people I live in Brixton a concerned expression always passes over the faces of those who don't know the area. Visions of the 1980s riots still cloud their minds and many assume Brixton is still a scary, tension-filled, no-go, inner city suburb. I then slowly (and hopefully not too patronisingly) remind them that the Brixton Rising actually happened over 30 years ago, and funnily enough times have changed.

Where to Enjoy the Sun in London

Image
Summer is nearly upon us which means endless sunny days are just round the corner. Well, when I say endless sunny days , I actually mean the odd day here and there. Let's be honest British summers are usually a wash out, so when the sun decides to grace our presence with its rays we need to make the most of it. I love London, but it's not the best place to be when the weather is hot. Outdoor space is limited, you have to fight for a square inch of grass in every park and don't even get me started on the tube. Despite this there are some great places to head to if the weather heats up this summer. Just remember to mentally prepare for the crowds, as the chances are 9 million other Londoners will have the same idea.

Edinburgh: Planning My Trip

Image
I have a confession to make: I never been to Scotland. Yep, 25 years living in the UK and never once have I stepped north of the English border. Shame on me. This is about to change however, as I'm off to Edinburgh in July with a group of friends! Hurrah! We even managed to find cheap flights, from London to Edinburgh, for a bargain £45 return; leaving after work on Friday and returning Sunday evening. It's about 5 times cheaper than the train and 5 times quicker. Just don't mention my carbon footprint.. Source
